I was lucky, though. My FI’s cousin got married last summer and she asked me to make her invitations (she’s a brave soul—I had never made invitations before) so I got to cut my teeth on her invites. I learned quite a bit on that project and applied that newly-acquired knowledge to my own wedding invitations.

I had so many ideas. The one thing I was certain about was the theme—daisies. I originally wanted all the flowers to be daisies and the centerpieces to also be daisies “planted in wheat grass.

And thus the invitations would also include grass and daisies, like zeeees:

But that idea was soon deemed to be too complicated and thus thrown out the window. Then I soon found this image, played around with it, and what do you know? I had my theme.

Months and months later, after sever drafts, I had my invitations. What do you think?

Our wedding cake comes as part of our wedding package at Sky Meadow and we’re lucky that the vendor of choice was the renowned Jacques Pastries – THE number one place to order your wedding cake.

Cake tasting was nummy, and can you believe that the phrase “too… much… cake” was uttered from my mouth? It was a lot of cake.

We ended up choosing chocolate cake with chocolate fudge and bailey’s cream filling for the biggest bottom tier (of course we’d have chocolate!), delectable lemon cake with black cherry cream filling for the middle, and spice cake with caramel cream and apple jam-type filling. It’s going to be amazing!

And the cake itself? It’s a variation on this design here, except the flowers will match those on my invitations with more flowers at the bottom of each tier, getting fewer towards to top of each tier.

Now, what to do about a cake topper. There are so many adorable choices on etsy, but I cannot believe the prices. I refuse to spend more than $50 on something that will sit on top of my wedding cake for 2 hours at most! I have a few ideas, but welcome any suggestions!

Like over the top Megan-like excitement. You can’t bottle that stuff.

Today I put a ton (~75) invitations in our mailbox at the end of the street. I even took pictures while people drove by and wondered why I was taking pictures of my mailbox.

I’d been putting off and putting off my first dress fitting. Then somehow I looked at a picture of me in the dress when I picked it up and my BDD flew out the window – I actually looked good. Actually, I think this is what got me really excited about the wedding – knowing I wouldn’t look like a fatty in the dress.

Jimbo and I had been undecided about the limo. We have a big bridal party (12) and in order to include everyone, it would have had to be one big mofo limo. And we hate those big mofo (“0 highway, 1 city“) limos. So we sat on it.

Until, just the other day while stalking WeddingBee.com, I discovered the ultimate in wedding transportation – the school bus!

Even better? My aunt drives school bus and got us a great deal and CHECK, we’ve got transportation!

1. Hire a florist and decided on all of the wedding flowers (I have an appt tonight!)
2. Finish final touches on invitations, assemble and send (I made them myself)
3. Have my dress fitted, buy a petticoat
4. Figure out what I'm going to do with my hair

7. Meet with officiant and music director, decide on ceremony and ceremony music, design ceremony programs
8. Eat cake. Decide on cake. Eat more cake.
9. Design favor packaging

11. Spend hours dreaming about honeymoon in Punta Cana

Did you do your Thursday 13?

Now I’m pretty organized (in fact, the planner said I was the most organized bride she ever had) but even the most organized person can forget things. I can’t believe I forgot to share the date with the CHURCH! I was so mad at myself and spiraled down into “i suck” mode. I’m and idiot, I’m too fat… blah blah blah.

Thankfully I hung out with Janet on Saturday night right after it happened and helped me realize that it wasn’t my fault. Nah, it was that last stress-inducing job that I just had. How could I remember to take a shower back in those days.

Saturday Jimbo and I spent most of the day picking out church and reception songs for the wedding. A good time was had by all. We still haven’t picked out a first dance song, yet. But we’ve got plenty of contenders and lots and lots of great dance music.

Pulling together bits and pieces here and there. The invites are mostly designed. I’m just waiting on the times and I can start printing it all out. Stamps? Check. Favor boxes? Check. Check Check Check.

Oh… how did it turn out with the church? The Reverend took pity on me and is working it out so we can both get married on the same day. He’s a saint. haha! Pun intended.

My cousin Kerry, whose wedding I attended the week before Jimbo popped the question made her own favors. Chocolate truffles in a box tied with ribbons that rival Godiva. I’ve already put my request in for her to do my favors.

We’re currently working on the engagement party for the immediate families and members of the wedding party to meet.
